Taxco, Guerrero, was the location Televisa chose to start shooting their first biographical series En la Vida de Joan Sebastián (17×60) produced by Carla Estrada, and starring the sons of the recently deceased singer, José Manuel Figueroa and Julián Figueroa (in different periods). The story will debut in 2016, first in the US and afterwards in Mexico, on a yet undisclosed date. This story is not a picture of Joan Sebastián, it is a portrait seen through the authors eyes. We have been working on it for two and a half months and the family is very much involved. We have carried out interviews and done research in order to depict him beyond the musical figure he represented. It is the first series that Televisa makes on someone´s life and the fact that it is about this singer is a dream for us, said the producer. The state of Guerrero will be one of the main locations where the story will develop, starring José Manuel Figueroa (interpreting the singer in his adult life), Julián Figueroa (in the younger stage) and Livia Brito.The governor of Guerrero, Héctor Astudillo, was present in the event. He highlighted the importance of Joan Sebastian for that place, acknowledging it will be a great tribute to a noble and generous man who reflected his greatness through his humbleness and simplicity.
